Good grief, I almost forgot to re-post the eponymous poem<\/a>!<\/p>\n

I received a volume of Rowan Williams poetry for Christmas, and have been distracted by that. \u00a0His “Flight Path” in that volume reminds me of some of the haunting ‘walking dead’ scenes from the Justin Kurzel film of Macbeth that we saw on Boxing Day.<\/p>\n

Other Christmas books included Dave Walker’s newest collection,\u00a0Heroes of the Coffee Rota<\/a>\u00a0(which is fabulous), Terry Eagleton’s Hope Without Optimism<\/a><\/em>, James Martin’s Becoming Who You Are<\/a><\/em>, and Steve Silberman’s Neurotribes<\/a><\/em>. \u00a0In recent reads, I highly recommend Jenny Lawson’s\u00a0Furiously Happy<\/em><\/a> to those among us who preserve a sense of humor\u00a0about anxiety disorders and don’t mind a certain amount of foul language. \u00a0 A new-to-me poet is Jane Kenyon, whom I discovered via a The Religious Imagineer<\/a> post. Re-posting here \u201cBriefly It Enters, and Briefly Speaks\u201d:<\/p>\n

I am the blossom pressed in a book,
\nfound again after two hundred years\u2026<\/p>\n

I am the maker, the lover, and the keeper\u2026<\/p>\n

When the young girl who starves
\nsits down to a table
\nshe will sit beside me\u2026<\/p>\n

I am food on the prisoner\u2019s plate\u2026<\/p>\n

I am water rushing to the wellhead,
\nfilling the pitcher until it spills\u2026<\/p>\n

I am the patient gardener
\nof the dry and weedy garden\u2026<\/p>\n

I am the stone step,
\nthe latch, and the working hinge\u2026<\/p>\n

I am the heart, contracted by joy\u2026
\nthe longest hair, white

I am there in the basket of fruit

I am the musk rose opening
\nunattended, the fern on the boggy summit\u2026<\/p>\n

I am the one whose love
