?-dod 15 May 1844 per ltr MBowen to JRPriestley 17 May 1844, but GHT cites death cert. for 8 May, from dropsy, with address.

REFERENCE: GHT ltr 26 Feb 1992 cites Gent. Mag. for date of mge to Will. Barton

!Lucinda, daughter of Dr. Joshua Toulmin, had buried two husbands (David Sweet and Will. Barton) when she married Joseph Priestley, Jr.; eight years later she lost her third. After his death, Lucinda lived for a while with or quite near her stepdaughter Marianne Priestley Bowen and her family in Cradley, and afterwards not far away in Stourbridge. She cared for an invalid daughter, Caroline Sweet, until her death in 1841, an event that affected her finances adversely, since it terminated an income she had had for Caroline. Her American nephew, Major Harry Toulmin, married her step-granddaughter Frances Biddle Priestley (daughter of Joseph R. Priestley).
